Penn Admissions Blog

You, Me, and What This Blog Will Be!
Zach | August 19, 2017

Hello and welcome to the blog! I am so excited to be able to give you a glimpse into my life at Penn through this blog!

I hail from Washington, DC, but grew up in a small city in Southwestern Virginia. I like to think I posses a little southern charm as a result. I have two siblings: a twin sister, Normandie, and an older sister, Madison. My family is a huge part of my life.

My path to Penn was a little different than others, as I came to Penn this year as a transfer student from a small liberal arts school in the northeast. I was (and still am) drawn to Penn for its vibrant and inspiring community/campus, its impeccable academic and extracurricular programs, and the wonderfully diverse student body. Penn truly is a place where you can experience it all. While the transition is still far from over, I am SO excited to finally be able to call Penn my home!

I am studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (aka PPE) here at Penn. I am fascinated with how this interdisciplinary major provides the basis for our legal system today. And so, I hope to go on to law school after graduation. Outside of the classroom, I am a member of the Kite and Key Society, Penn’s student tour guide association, and I hold a part-time job at the Admissions Visitor Center. I also am currently pledging Phi Alpha Delta, Penn’s only pre-law professional fraternity. Like most Penn students, I love to be involved, which is great because there are SO many (we’re talking 600+) clubs/groups on campus!

When I’m not doing all that was mentioned above, I am exploring West Philly, consuming copious amounts of coffee, and hanging out with my friends. If you’re a wannabe foodie like me, you will L-O-V-E Philly’s exciting food scene. Food and friends are a huge part of my life, so I am sure you will be seeing and hearing more about both soon!

This blog will be filled with tales about my time at Penn, my thoughts on college and life in general, and everything in between. My goal is to give you an accurate glimpse into life here at Penn, so that you can see if Penn might be a good fit for you (which I sincerely hope it will be)!! If you have any questions or specific things you would like to hear about, please feel free to reach out. I am here to help you in this crazy process we call college admissions.

I am so excited to share my life at Penn with you all. Stay tuned for more!

Zach

Welcome to the world of Penn! I am in the College studying Politics, Philosophy, and Economics with a concentration in Choice and Behavior. I came to Penn last year as a transfer student from a small liberal arts school up north and I have absolutely loved my time here. When I am not writing my stream of consciousness on this blog, I am working at the Admissions Visitor Center, volunteering with Penn Best Buddies, doing research on management and organizational behavior with a brilliant Penn professor, and thinking about the law with Phi Alpha Delta, Penn’s only pre-law professional fraternity. I love leisurely strolls on Locust, cold brew from Saxbys, and all the Magic Carpet cookies on this side of the Schuylkill! Tag along for what will undoubtedly be a fantastic ride!
