Greek Life

Our Greek life community, comprised of almost 40 organizations and 3,000 members, presents a variety of options for joining a range of sororities, fraternities, and co-ed organizations.

Intercultural Greek Council members pose together outside for a group photo. They are each wearing sweaters with their individual Greek life affiliation.

The Intercultural Greek Council consists of 4 fraternities and 7 sororities. Chapters of this council are members of national umbrella organization: National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, National Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Panhellenic Association, and National PanHellenic Council (NPHC).

With roots dating back to the first Greek organization at Penn in 1849, Greek life has been a long-lasting part of community life on campus.

Members of the Fraternity and Sorority Life community at Penn pride themselves on being forward-thinking leaders who are here to reinvent the meaning of Greek life. Through relationship-building, members of Penn’s Greek network forge connections that extend beyond their fellow brothers and sisters to encompass both the campus and greater Philadelphia community.  Additionally, members actively engage in service and philanthropy opportunities to positively influence campus culture and the local community.

The Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life also oversees the Intercultural Greek Council (IGC), an umbrella organization for cultural and identity-based organizations who provide students with values and tools to advance their respective communities. Through programming such as monthly days of service, fundraising efforts, step shows, and more, students can build connections within Greek life, and beyond, that last a lifetime.
