Media and Communications

Tap into your creative side with the media and communications opportunities at Penn! Here, students can amplify their voices through traditional and emerging media platforms such as radio, newspaper, magazines, and more.

Whether you’re looking to write thought-provoking articles, or step into the world of fantasy through captivating short stories, there’s a creative outlet for everyone here at Penn.

Literary Magazines

Get involved with one of Penn’s student publications as a writer or an editor! Literary Magazines at Penn focus on poetry, humor, food, politics, travel, and more. And if you love to write, you’ll love the Kelly Writer’s House—a true home for our literary community. At the Kelly Writers House, you can hear from visiting journalists, write your own prose, or simply relax while listening to a poetry reading. Amitav Ghosh, Jason Reynolds, and Jamaica Kincaid are just a few of the celebrated authors who have been Fellows at the Writer's House in past years.

Daily Newspaper

The Daily Pennsylvanian (DP)—recognized as one of the top college newspapers in the country—is Penn’s independent student media organization. About 116 mornings each school year, Penn students, faculty and staff turn to the DP for news, sports, and entertainment coverage about the Philadelphia metro area and Penn.

WQHS Radio

Broadcasting online 24/7, WQHS is an entirely student-run radio station. DJs play an eclectic freeform variety of music genres.
