Naval ROTC
At Penn, students considering our Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC), can access a world-class education while preparing for leadership positions in the US military.
Considering a future career in the military service? Our Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) has over sixty-five years of experience training motivated students to serve as leaders in the United States Navy and Marine Corps.
As a naval cadet (or midshipman) at Penn, you still get to have a full college experience while pursuing the requirements to complete training for the military. All NROTC students are encouraged to engage in campus life, through activities like varsity sports, student government, and clubs. Students have the option to pursue futures in the Navy or in the Marines.
Our NROTC community in Philadelphia is in a consortium with Drexel University, Temple University, and Villanova University—meaning a local network of opportunities is open to you.
If you’re interested in the Air Force ROTC, Penn partners with St. Joseph University to provide military science courses that would enable you to earn a commission in the Air Force while satisfying your degree requirements at Penn. Similarly, Drexel University supports Penn Students in commissioning into the United States Army via the Army ROTC that Drexel hosts.
When you visit campus, we welcome you to shadow a current midshipman, meet with a first-year advisor, participate in the leadership lab, or try out physical training. If you want to learn more or are interested in scheduling a visit, please complete the prospective student ROTC interest form.
Want to connect with someone directly to learn more about Penn’s Army ROTC program? We encourage you to contact Mr. Carlos Washington via email. Inquiries are welcome!
