PEEP 2023 Schedule

We're so excited you're participating in PEEP! Here's what you can expect over the five weeks we'll spend together.

All PEEP live programming runs from 7-9PM ET on Wednesdays. You can use this website to determine the event time based on your location.

Week 1: August 9th

This week, you'll learn about Penn through a community lens! We'll introduce you to our various Cultural Resource Centers, and you'll have an opportunity to hear from representatives from each of our CRCs.

Week 2: August 16th

In week two we’ll introduce you to Penn’s four undergraduate schools and interdisciplinary curriculum. As we define each school’s specific focus and mission, you’ll have the opportunity to ask the experts questions directly!

Week 3: August 23rd

Halfway through! This session we’ll cover financial aid – how it works, how to apply, and what you need to know. We’ll spend the second half of the evening with a faculty spotlight featuring Professors Robert Ghrist and Jamie-Lee Josselyn.

Robert Ghrist is the inaugural faculty co-director of the Office of Penn First Plus Students. Established in the spring of 2018, Penn First Plus is designed to support first-generation and low-income students through expanded programs. There, undergraduate students can form a vibrant community, learn more about resources, and connect with faculty and alumni.

Jamie-Lee Josselyn is Associate Director for Recruitment and an instructor for the University of Pennsylvania’s Creative Writing Program. She is also the Director of the Summer Workshop for Young Writers at the Kelly Writers House and has been listed among Penn’s Top 30 Professors based on student evaluations.

Week 4: August 30th

Week four will kick off with a session by Marc Lo, Executive Director of Penn First Plus. Marc will provide an overview of the resources and perks available to our FGLI students through Penn First Plus, beyond Financial Aid. We’ll wrap up the evening with a workshop on applying to Penn and other selective institutions, along with guidance on activities and essays.

Our last session! Representatives from the Penn Alumni Interview Program will give guidance on college application interviews and provide an opportunity for practice. This will be followed by a panel featuring our PEEP alumni, where you’ll get to hear about Penn in their own words.
