International Advanced Standing

Advanced standing may enable you to earn a Penn degree in fewer than four years.

High performance on some nationally-sponsored or administered secondary school exams may entitle you to advanced standing at Penn. These exams can include:

  • A-levels
  • French Baccalaureate
  • Abitur
  • International Baccalaureate (higher-level subjects)
  • Italian Maturita
  • Federal Swiss Maturity Certificate
  • Denmark's Studentereksamen
  • Iceland's Studentsprof
  • Finland's Matriculation Certificate

Advanced standing is not granted until you have been admitted and the original certificate (or an official copy) from the appropriate examining agency has been received and evaluated by Penn.

If you’re enrolled in your first year of university studies in the Philippines, or won’t have university examinations to present to the selection committee, you should apply as a first-year.
