Community Engagement

At Penn, learning isn’t limited to the classroom—we’re always trying to apply what we learn to the world around us in service of positive change. Whether we’re participating in civic engagement, joining Greek Life, or considering a future career in military service, community engagement is central to the intellectual experience at Penn.

At Penn’s Netter Center for Community Partnerships, you can explore 200+ Academically Based Community Service (ABCS) courses where students can earn academic credit while engaging in research, teaching, and problem-solving with the community. Similarly, with Penn Global, you can explore programs that partner with communities, organizations, and governments around the world to build networks, share ideas, and look for innovative, cross-disciplinary solutions to global problems. You might even find that you’d like to join Penn’s Greek Life community to actively engage in service and philanthropy opportunities that positively influence campus culture and the local community. Or you might consider joining Penn’s Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) where you can have a full college experience while pursuing the requirements to complete training for the military. Whatever shape your community engagement may take, you’ll be helping not only the entire Penn community, but also impacting the world.
