Majors and Minors
At Penn, we believe that students benefit from seeing the world through a variety of perspectives and charting a course that matches their unique academic and career goals.
While we ask that you choose an undergraduate school during the application process, with help from faculty advisors, we offer flexibility to integrate courses, ideas, and research across Penn’s four undergraduate and twelve graduate schools.
Spanning four undergraduate schools, Penn’s majors allow students to integrate their interests and approach learning from an interdisciplinary perspective. All Penn students complete foundational coursework in the liberal arts and sciences along with a major area of study within their undergraduate school.
Choosing A Major

At Penn, we encourage students to begin with what interests them and see where it takes them. For this reason, we do not ask students to indicate their intended major during the application process for the College of Arts and Sciences, The Wharton School, or the School of Nursing.
