Veteran Benefits
Considering applying to Penn as an undergraduate student? The University of Pennsylvania values and is committed to supporting our veteran and military-affiliated students through an affordable education. Penn offers resources through the Office of Student Registration and Financial Services (SRFS), including guidance on utilizing your GI Bill® benefits.
If you are an active duty servicemember, veteran, or a military-affiliated dependent, you may be eligible for education benefits offered through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Students may utilize VA Chapter 33, Chapter 35, and Chapter 31* benefits. Admitted students interested in using these benefits must:
- Complete a VA Information Form.
- Upload a copy of their official VA Certificate of Eligibility and DD-214 (military discharge form) via the SRFS Online Document Submission Form.
Expanding Access for Veterans
In 2024, Penn expanded its veteran benefits for all eligible undergraduate military-affiliated students to pay for any remaining tuition not covered by the Post-9/11 GI Bill. This means that eligible undergraduate students are able to attend Penn for little to no cost!
Additionally, all veteran undergraduate applicants admitted directly to one of our four undergraduate schools, a Coordinated Dual-Degree Program, or an Accelerated/Specialized Programs are eligible to use their Yellow Ribbon Benefit.
