Selective College Admissions Workshop

Getting a jump start on your college process? Wondering where to start? Join admissions officers in an overview of the college admissions landscape. This presentation will offer a general overview of the college process and introduce students to distinct types of institutions, financial aid, and application plans.

Quaker Conversations: International Students

August 12 at 9:00 AM (ET)

When asked how they chose Penn, our students often say it was about the people. During our Quaker Conversations you will have the opportunity to explore communities across the University. This is an opportunity to hear directly from international students at Penn about their experiences navigating and celebrating their identities at Penn and in Philadelphia. You will have the chance to ask students about their successes and challenges on campus in this student run session.

This session will primarily feature panelists from Central and South Asia to align with local time zones but all students regardless of origin are welcomed to attend the session that best meets their needs.

Career Services and Life After Penn

August 19 at 7:00 PM (ET)

What do Penn students do after graduation? How does the University help students to pursue internships, job placements, or graduate/professional school? Can students study what they are truly passionate about and still find jobs? This session for students and families will highlight the extensive resources available through Penn’s Office of Career Services. Learn how this office supports and advises students to help prepare them for their next steps, whatever they may be.

Quaker Conversations: First Generation and Low-Income Students

August 26 at 8:00 PM (ET)

When asked why they chose Penn, our students frequently refer to the people here. During our Quaker Conversations you’ll have the opportunity to hear from some of those people as you explore communities across the University. This session will feature current Penn students who are the first in their families to go to college and/or who come from low-income households. They will share their experiences navigating the University and becoming actively involved in student life. Find out about the challenges and successes they have faced throughout their college journeys, and learn how they have taken advantage of campus resources along the way.

Essay Writing Workshop

Personal statement vs. supplemental essay -- what is the point and why so many? What are admissions officers really trying to understand from them? During this program, we will discuss the wide range of essay types required in college applications and how students can distinguish themselves in the application process. You will have the opportunity to ask questions during this session.
